Level
          Layer
                     Fill
                           Frost
                                     Repeat.

Our first two cake decor classes covered the basics of how to level the cake making sure it is even so as not to end up with the iconic leaning tower of Pisa but instead a wonderful pillar of sweet sugary goodness. We then divide the cake into layers which are a great way to intersperse various flavours, colours, or add some visual appeal once the cake has been cut. After the layers have been assembled it is time for the basic coat of frosting. When frosting the cake one of the important things to remember is not getting crumbs mixed into the frosting, the secret to this is to use a lot of frosting so the spatula isn't actually rubbing the cake itself but simply spreading the frosting smoothly and evenly on the cake.

BAM! The cake is now the perfect canvas, ready for it to become an edible artistic masterpiece!

I have absolutely loved taking these cake decorating classes, they've been refreshing in this time of being home and I know I'm learning skills that I will put to use.

I'm Kelcie, I like people, baking, summer weather, the ocean, and Jesus!

Here's a bible verse that inspires me:  Mark 10:28-30

Peter said to him, "We have left everything to follow you!""I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life.
