Springtime in Australia! SOIYM Lecture and Outreach Update.
Lecture Phase Our lecture phase is nearly over and we are preparing for outreach to begin in just 4 weeks! It has been an incredible lecture phase so far with various speakers and opportunities to work in different high schools. Some of the highlights from the different speakers have been our base director David Stephenson sharing about vision & identity and the important factor that has in regard to leadership. We also had Paul O'Rourke, CEO of Emily's Voice and author of Why Satan Hates Our Kids come to share about our current situation with rising abortion rates, he stirred us to really think about what our individual part to play is in seeing change within this generation. Leading this school has been an incredible challenge and time of growth because I've never done anything like this before. I love all of my students and I'm excited for the things they are learning along with the ways they are changing. My goal is to continue developing them as leaders that will persevere to see change among youth culture and that they will take their part in leading a generation.
I'm excited to announce that for our outreach phase of the school I will be leading the team to Cambodia. We are planning to work specifically with another YWAM ministry in Battambang. Their mission overall is to equip and empower the people of Cambodia to bring transformation to communities in Cambodia, South East Asia, and the rest of the earth. We will be working specifically with their youth centre that has 350-400 young people coming every day to learn english and other life skills. You can read more about it by following this link- YDC Aside from heading to Cambodia we will also be part of running our annual youth camp- 5 Day Escape as well as heading up to Townsville, Australia to work with Youth Street there. Stay tuned for different ways you can be a part of this amazing outreach!
I'm Kelcie, I like people, baking, summer weather, the ocean, and Jesus!
Here's a bible verse that inspires me: Mark 10:28-30 Peter said to him, "We have left everything to follow you!""I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life.
