My Week of Driving...

Last Sunday was the beginning of a great adventure for my Dad and I.

Saturday, my brother, Eric, and my Dad loaded up a Uhaul trailer full of Eric's stuff. He is moving to Nebraska mostly because that is where his fiancée lives and he finally got a job there so he can move.

Here's our timeline from the trip, with highlights included!

Sunday:
5:30am- Hit the road! We started our journey to Chicago, with a few stops in between.
8:00pm- Finally get to Chicago! Upon arriving in Chicago, we were able to stop by my other brother, Gene and his wife Lara's apartment for dinner and they were so gracious to allow us to stay for the night.

Monday:
5:30am- Another early start, on our way to Omaha, Nebraska. Not much to see in between Chicago and Omaha, unless you're really into corn fields.
4:00pm- Arrive at Eric's new house! Meet up with Amanda(Eric's fiancée)& her brother, unload trailer. Return trailer. Then after all the moving work, we were able to go and visit other close friends we have in Omaha.
8:00pm- Head back to Eric's new house to sleep for the night.

Tuesday:
5:30am- Yep, you guessed it! Yet another early start (I'll let you in on a secret, there will be more!) And we're off to Minnesota!
11:00am- First stop Owatonna, Minnesota. This is where my sister Skye and her family live. We got to visit the Mall of America, then go out to dinner with the whole family. It was fun getting to spend time with my sister and brother in-law, as well as my two nephews (they're growing up so fast!!!) We stayed the night with Skye and for once didn't have to get up early to drive somewhere...

Wednesday:
8:00am- Yay for little sleep-ins! We got to spend more time with Skye and did some shopping, my favourite place was an antique store we went in.
12:00pm- Drive to Rochester, Minnesota; home of the Mayo Clinic and my Grandma Rausch! The rest of the day was spent with my Grandma and other family members.

Thursday:
5:30am- Back to those early starts! We set out to Detroit, MI home of the Cook Family, which is my Mum's side of the family.
4:30pm- Arrive and G-ma & G-pa's home (nothing has changed, inside or out, I love their house!) We had a nice relaxing night, nothing crazy just dinner.

Friday:
This day was basically spent without any form of agenda, aside from plans to go out to dinner with my other Aunts and Uncles. I got to spend some quality time with my G-ma, taking her to Costco and the Dollar Store. Then we went out to dinner that night, with 9 of my other relatives....It was so good seeing them and catching up before leaving again.

Saturday:
8:00am- Homeward Bound! This was our last leg of the journey, from Michigan to Virginia. I was sad to leave everyone behind, but excited to get back and take care of some stuff before leaving to go back to Australia.
5:00pm- Arrive back to our house in Virginia. Boy, was I tired! Overall, I reckon it was a good journey. I loved getting to spend that quality time with my Dad, driving all around the mid-west. It also felt really good to be able to help my brother, Eric, with moving stuff. I liked being able to contribute to him because he has been so helpful to me throughout life.

I'm hoping to get some photos of our road-trip up in the next post, so keep checking for them!

As always.
Love,
Kelcie

I'm Kelcie, I like people, baking, summer weather, the ocean, and Jesus!

Here's a bible verse that inspires me:  Mark 10:28-30

Peter said to him, "We have left everything to follow you!""I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life.
